reference to your letter of the 27th

June 1904, No: 21828/1904, enclosing a Memorandum of

Transfer by the Colonial Government of Hong Kong to the

Admiralty of certain land at Long Harbour, Mirs Bay;

am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty

to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of

State for the Colonies, that they desire to make the fol-

lowing remarks thereon.

2. Prior to the receipt of your letter, the Commander-in-Chief had forwarded a Draft terms of possession

which he stated set out the conditions on which the

Colonial Government would be prepared to hand over the land in question in exchange for the rights possessed by

the Admiralty over the Naval Range at Kowloon, and in full satisfaction of whatever property the Admiralty may

possess on that Range in the shape of Pavilion butts etc.,

in connection with it, all of which were to be taken over

with the Range by the Colonial Government.

In a further communication, the Commander-

in-Chief reports that he has been informed by the Colonial

Authorities that the use of the Naval Range at Kowloon

would not be interfered with until the new Ranges near

Kowloon City had been prepared.

4. In the "terms of possession" above referred

to, the land was to be held by my Lords until it should
